Yael Naim

Yael Naim has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard, she is right up there with Zoeey Deschanel. She is Jewish, was born in Paris and at the age of 4 moved to Israel. There she served in the Israeli Defense Force as a soloist in their orchestra...the defense forces have an orchestra? Awesome. Additionally, she is the first solo Israeli artist to get a top 10 hit in the US (the song was New Soul).

Her music is all pretty good, but I love this cover of Britney Spear's "Toxic" and it is beautiful.

The end is near. Watch for zombies.

MillionYoung

MillionYoung is the pseudonym for Mike Diaz from southern Florida. His music has a very distinct sound classified as "chillwave" or "ambient surf"...I don't know what that means, but I like it. It really is just chill electronic styled music. He has two EPs and just came out with his first album "Replicants" earlier this year. It has a similar feel to the songs from the EPs I have heard so far and I like it.

This song is called "Hammock" from his first EP "Sunndreamm" and it is pretty representative of his style.

Andrew Bird

Andrew Bird is an amazing musician and easily in my top 3 of all-time favorite artists. I have loved his music for the past 4 years and I don't know if I will ever stop, it is just too good. He is the best whistler I have ever heard and he is master at the violin. I just can't explain how wonderful his music is, you have to experience it.

This song is called "Anonanimal" and is from his most recent album called "Noble Beast." I love it. So please listen and let it enrich your life.

While I love it, it is not my favorite. Instead, my favorite is "A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left" from the album "Andrew Bird and the Mysterious Production of Eggs." It got me hooked.

Be grateful, for happiness is its direct result.

Midnight Musing: Bowerbirds

A large part of my music collection is made up of indie folk.  That is a fact I am not ashamed of.  One of my favorites is a 3 member band from Raleigh North Carolina.  They released their first album Hymns for a Dark Horse in 2007.  In 2009 they released Upper Air.

I love their relaxed sound and effortless harmonies.  House of Diamonds is from their second album and has become a frequent song on my itunes.  Take a listen.

Eat. Pray. Love.

The Rosebuds...again

I know I shared a bit about the Rosebuds not too long ago, but they just came out with a new album yesterday and it is fantastic. I am always worried when a band I like comes out with a new album that I am not going to like it cause they changed their sound too much in a direction I don't like. Luckily, in the case of "Loud Planes Fly Low" the Rosebuds kept their unique sound while at the same time changing enough to keep you interested. With that said I recommend you buy the album cause each song is great. Also you can get a free download from the album here.

I'm not really sure if I have a favorite song yet, but "Second Bird of Paradise" is definitely a great song/example of the beauty of the album .

The xx

These guys are by no means new, but I love them and have been listening to them a lot lately. The xx is made up of the trio Jamie Smith, Oliver Sim, and Romy Croft from England. Their music is beautiful and their entire album, xx, is wonderful. Here is my favorite song, VCR.

Also, they are working on a new album and it is supposed to be out sometime this year so get excite!
